How does Roamer get my vehicle's data?
Your Rivian sends its data to Rivian's cloud over its cell connection, or over Wi-Fi when it's joined to a network. Roamer reads that data from your Rivian account the same way the Rivian app does. Neither one connects to your vehicle directly. While your vehicle sleeps, Roamer shows the last reading it sent.
Rivian can't send Roamer what happened earlier, so a stretch without signal stays empty, and miles driven then aren't in any drive.
Can Roamer record without cell signal?
Yes, over Wi-Fi. Join your Rivian to a network, such as your phone's hotspot or a Starlink dish, and it sends its data over Wi-Fi as it does over cell.
Does Roamer keep my vehicle awake or cause phantom drain?
No. Roamer reads what your Rivian already sent to Rivian's cloud and has no say in when your vehicle sleeps. The one exception is a trip you ask a connected AI assistant to send to your vehicle's navigation, which can wake your vehicle.
Can Roamer track hands-free driving?
No. Rivian doesn't share when Highway Assist or Universal Hands-Free is on, so Roamer can't count hands-free miles or how often you took over.
How do I download or export my data?
For everything, download an archive. You don't need Roamer Plus for this.
- Open Account → Data and choose Request export under Exports.
- Roamer prepares it in the background. If your email is confirmed, you'll get an email when it's ready.
- Come back and choose Download ZIP within seven days.
You can request one archive a day, and none while one is ready to download. Unlinking your Rivian account or removing a vehicle cancels any archive that's being prepared or waiting to download.
For a spreadsheet, choose Export on a vehicle's Activity page. It downloads a ZIP of CSV files with that vehicle's drives and charges in your current date range and filters, in your own units. This needs Roamer Plus, and keeps working for the 6 months your history is kept after Roamer Plus ends.
What's in the archive?
Your account details and preferences, vehicles, drives, charges, trips, saved places, and the vehicle history Roamer still holds, including imports. Data that was deleted or expired isn't in it, and Roamer can't import an archive back.
The files are JSON Lines (.jsonl), one record per line, with values in the units Roamer stores and times in UTC. README.txt explains how to read them, and manifest.json describes the files and fields. Passwords, sign-in tokens, payment details and security logs are left out.
What happens if I unlink, remove a vehicle or cancel?
- Unlink Account on Account → Linked Accounts: Roamer stops reading your Rivian account and permanently deletes its vehicles and their history. Your Roamer account stays.
- Remove a vehicle with the trash icon next to it on the same page: permanently deletes that vehicle's history. Restore lets the vehicle sync again but doesn't bring its history back.
- Cancel Roamer Plus: recording stops when your paid time ends, or right away if you cancel for a refund, and your history stays for 6 months.
Download an archive first if you want a copy.
Can I keep my history after selling my Rivian?
Yes. Leave the vehicle in Roamer. Once Rivian takes it off your Rivian account, Roamer archives it: its history stays and syncing stops. It's kept on the same terms as the rest of your history, including after Roamer Plus ends. Removing the vehicle or unlinking would delete it.
Your new vehicle shows up once Rivian adds it to your Rivian account. If you linked a secondary driver account, invite it to the new vehicle.
How do I delete my account?
At the bottom of Account → Security, type DELETE and choose Permanently Delete My Account. If Roamer asks you to confirm your password or passkey, do that and submit again. Roamer signs you out, cancels Roamer Plus, unlinks your Rivian account and connected apps, and stops tracking your vehicles. It then deletes your account, vehicle history, drives, charges, uploads and analytics. Most deletions finish within minutes and a few take up to a day. If your email is confirmed, you'll get an email when it's done. Deleting can't be undone.
Limited operational logs, encrypted backups, and records a payment processor must keep follow the timelines in the Privacy Policy. Download an archive first if you want a copy.
